I now live in the city so I have plenty of time. I went there as a "walk-in" only to get some info as I had planned to visit 2-3 schools and choose one. But once I got into the hands of the staff, so professional, so convincing and so sure that this is the best school in Panama, the next thing I knew - I had classes the following day. I took 1 on 1 classes. And everything went as promised - the teacher was really interested what my needs were, understanding my struggle through Spanish. The lessons were interesting and demanding at the same time. The after school activities were even more interesting (don't miss them - the organized and the spontaneous ones) and gave me a sample of the 'total immersion' not only in the language matters. I got to know fantastic people and the whole experience was much more rewarding and memorable that I had expected. Next time I have a few weeks to spare I will be there 100%. Good job people.
Evaluation from TonyShaker:
I WOULD NOT recommend HablaYa to help you learn nor speak Spanish! HablaYa only want to take your money without giving you the proper service! I am ecstatic that I did not get robbed for their 'pay for 3 weeks and get a week free plan'!! Initially, HablaYa said that they would place me into a group that was at 'my level', and they DID NOT. They wasted my time for 3 consecutive day by placing me in 2 different classes that were below my academic level. Then, HablaYa refused to give me a refund, and refused to teach me at my level at no additional costs. I requested that they recoup me the 3 days lost due to them placing me in two inadequate classes from Monday through Wednesday. I repeatedly informed then that I had recently completed 2 years of Spanish in the community college. I had informed them of this via email, speaking to them on the phone, and wrote it on their pre-registration form upon my arrival in Panama. I had tested to be placed in their C2 communications course, yet they placed me in an A1, and then an A2 course. HeblaYa is a TOTAL WASTE of money, and their owner's do not have any concept of providing good customer service! Please contact me at TonyShaker0803@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

I recently completed a three month course at the new Panama City campus location of Habla Ya. I have known about them for quite some time and have a lot of friends who have studied at the Boquete campus. When I moved to the city and read about their Expat Special I knew it was finally time. They were offering a great rate and a convenient location. Also, I had started to study Spanish more times then I could count and it was very helpful that they place you with people at your own level. The classes were organized and challenging but still fun. I would like to give a shout out to my main teacher Sergio who was both patient and professional. Classes were varied and kept interesting through the use of videos, songs, and even games. I had a few classes with Ruth and she was delightful as well!
Evaluation from allyonka:

I've been going to the Habla Ya Spanish School in Panama City for about two months now, and it's been great! It's perfect if you really want to learn Spanish without too many opportunities to use your native language. The people who go to school here are mostly interested in learning Spanish to work in Panama, so if you are planning to come here to party and relax a bit I would recommend Habla Ya's school in Bocas del Toro. The teachers and reception staff are excellent and very helpful. They are great resource guides if you want to check out some cool places around the city. Judith has been my teacher and she's great. Very patient and truly interested in helping you learn the language. A great school to learn Spanish regardless of what level your at.¡Ojalá que pueda quedarme aquí por más tiempo!
Evaluation from AnnaG:
I would like to say a massive thank you to my wonderful teacher Bellalina Batista. I have had a very good experience with Habla Ya in general but to me it is very important to get along well with the person who is teaching me and most importantly to have a mutual understanding! She's attended to every need of mine as a student and created the safe environment for me to not be afraid to make mistakes and learn productively! I am very looking forward to coming back and starting my A2 book :)

I spent four weeks studying at HablaYa while living in Panama City and the experience was fantastic. Ezequiel , my teacher and Director of the Panama school (I believe) , is unbelievably passionate about teaching and making sure all the students at the school are getting the best experience possible. He is an incredibly enthusiastic and patient person (essential qualities as a teacher!) and always had time for his students when they needed help - both inside and outside of the classroom. The school has activities - including salsa classes, film nights and sightseeing - organised on every single night of the week, and everything is done with a smile. Overall an amazing experience, and I cannot recommend the school or Ezequiel highly enough.
Evaluation from annab:
Great experience! I had a 80 hours class and I improved my Spanish so fast... I had a basic level of knowledge, cause I am Italian, but after less then 2 months I am perfectly fluent. Now I can work and live with spanish speaking people! The staff is very involved, they help with everything and organize a lot of stuff (dinner, events, shopping, sightseeing... My teacher was so competent and funny! I enjoy every moment in Habla Ya!

I have taken Spanish lessons in Buenos Aires, Cartagena and my hometown of Seattle. Grammatically speaking, I’m a perpetual intermediate-level speaker. Yet, I live in Latin America, which means I learn vernacular Spanish every day. When I decided (once again), to clean up my bad grammar, I signed up for sixty hours of private lessons at Habla Ya in Panama City. I asked for a teacher who could adapt to my peculiar knowledge base, and plan a strategy to fill in the gaps. I was very fortunate when I was handed over to Judith Barrett. She quickly assessed my weaknesses, and customized a curriculum that both challenged me, and made me feel successful everyday. Her lectures on grammar were thorough, and she answered my never-ending questions with patient clarity. Languages are tough for me, and Judith delivered a productive and supportive classroom environment. Important for me, Judith also speaks English. I have taken enough classes to know that I learn more when Spanish grammar can be directly compared to English. Judith is an expert at the differences between the languages, which makes her highly effective for English speaking students. Too many schools are rigidly immersive, and that is definitely not the best way for me to learn. Hable Ya has comfortable classrooms and a good location. It’s close to the metro, and just a short walk to Via Argentina in El Cangrejo. It’s a good quality school in the heart of the city, and I would recommend it to anyone coming through Panama City.
Evaluation from Mary-ANne:
I studied with Habla Ya in Panama City and in Boquete and made a massive amount of progress in 2 weeks. The school staff in both places was extremely welcoming, friendly and flexible in adjusting the classes to suit my schedule. My teachers Leidys, Yarixell and Nohely were brilliant teachers; kind, patient and really explained everything well while ensuring that the class moved at the right pace. I found the materials we used to be much more effective than those i have used in other schools - there were lots of different types of exercises to reinforce the lessons that we had learned. Panama was a great surprise as well - there was so much to do there outside of school hours and it was all very easy to organise. I could not recommend Habla Ya more highly!
Evaluation from shianne:
I have recently become a student at Habla Ya and all i can say is for any English speaking person wanting to learn Spanish this is the school for them! The school is very accommodating to try help find the best solution to get your Spanish learning underway. As i work full time i needed to do classes after hours and the school came up with a solution for me. I now do one on one classes with Judith - in my opinion the best teacher! The classes are always different and fun. Judith is extremely friendly and patient. She really goes above and beyond for me! She really tries to understand my concerns and problems i might have and come up with a solution to help me in improving my Spanish. I would defintatly recommend Habla Ya and in particular Judith. The staff are all polite and so eager to help in any way they can. The school is professional and not a fly by night and the classes are defiantly value for money! You cannot go wrong in going with Habla Ya in getting to learn Spanish!

Habla Ya is really good. The school, the staff and the teaching methods are all great. Especially we are very happy with our teacher Judith Barret. She is very efficient and professional. Also great fun in the classroom. We were lucky to have her as our teacher. I highly recommend this school and teacher!

Evaluation from ElenaC:
I had only one week in Habla Ya in Panama City but thanks to my awesome teacher Sergio I could make so many progresses. The staff is very friendly, helpful and determined to make your experience there the best as possible. My teacher found the perfect way for me to improve my skills and I had a lot of fun learning from him.
Evaluation from spettro:
My host family was amazing -they were sweet, friendly, and cooked really good food. Both my teachers were highly skilled, patient, and talked slowly enough for me to understand. They prepared well for each class, and they went with the flow of the conversation. Habla Ya was not boring and filled with the teacher talking most of time. Instead, I learned by practicing and repetition. They presented really interesting topics for listening and reading. I learned a lot in the areas of Spanish and in life. I highly recommend Habla Ya!
Evaluation from shldngopaul:
I spent two months at Habla Ya, at the Panama City campus. I can say the experience was excellent. The staff are very friendly and professional and the structure of the lesson is well thought out and planned. My teacher for group class was Ana and she was amazing. She was very patient and always willing to go over topics that were not understood by the students and answer any questions we had. The lessons themselves were fun as it was not the same method over and over, some days we played games in spanish, looked at videos or simply just had conversations about our different countries, day to day activities and so on. I started at A1 knowing very little spanish and ended at B1 able to hold conversations with native spanish speakers and understand what is being said, my writing in spanish has also improved a lot. Would definitely recommend this school for anyone looking to learn the basics or go all the way an be a fluent spanish speaker.
Evaluation from juliastachow:
I took 8 weeks of group Spanish classes. The school tries really hard to meet every students needs. After the first week you are asked to fill out a short review about how comfortable you are in your class and with your teacher. My teacher was Ana, she was super nice and an awesome teacher. I started on the A1 level (no Spanish) and she got me on level B1(conversational Spanish) within 8 weeks. Ana was able to work with the little knowledge I had of Spanish and increase my knowledge through a variety of grammar, reading, and writing exercises in class. Additionally, Ana always tries to connect these tasks with real life Spanish experiences. Within the those 8 weeks, Ana was able to allow myself and our class with a variety of excursions to the Smithsonian, the mall and a bunch of restaurants to practice my Spanish in public. Overall, this was one of the best experience I have had while learning a new language and I would definitely recommend this school and Ana to anyone that is wanting to learn Spanish in a real world setting.
Evaluation from Yak:
My overall experience of Habla Ya was very positive - fun, interesting and I learnt a lot. My teachers (Alex in Boquete and Yarixell in Panama City) were both great, with engaging classes and a range of different activities - my level improved significantly in the time I was there. The school is well organised and very helpful with administration and activities outside classes - I'd definitely recommend it.
Evaluation from reneesmith:
I was at the Panama city Habla Ya for one week and I took classes with Esther and Yarixell. They were amazing and I really improved my Spanish after going in as a beginner. The teaching styles were really great and helped expand my vocabulary rapidly. The whole staff is helpful and everyone was so friendly. I really enjoyed my time here!
Evaluation from 3211bls:
You can't go wrong when you choose Habla Ya as your school to learn Spanish. All of the staff and professors are friendly and helpful. Class sizes are small so there's no way that you'll be overlooked. I had a great experience and I especially connected to Stephany, my professor. Stephany is vibrant and has a fun, interactive way of teaching so that you understand. If you're like me and need extra help, just ask and she will clarify things for you without hesitation.

I studied during one month in the school Habla Ya of Panama City. I had a great time there and learned a lot! The school is well located, in a safe area and close to public transportation. The staff and the teachers are very friendly and helpful. The spanish course was very well structured, I could improve my speaking, writing and grammar, and noticed the improvement day after day! There is a different activity program offered every week and for each day which includes visits of the city, dinners, movies, etc...Thanks to the activity program, I could meet other students and got to know better the city and the panamanian culture. I really recommend this school if you are looking for quality and fun in Panama City!
