Indirect object pronouns are the words
that take the place of the noun.

They are shown in the table below:

me - to me (singular)

te - to you (singular)

le - to you, to him, to her (singular)

nos - to us (plural)

os - to you guys (plural)

les - to you all, to them (plural)

General rules for using indirect object pronouns:

They precede conjugated verbs
Ojalá me llame a esta hora.
I hope he calls me at this time.

They can precede or follow infinitives
No tenía que decirle la verdad.
You didn't have to tell him/her the truth.

No le tenía que decir la verdad.
You didn't have to tell him/her the truth.

The example sentences should help you understand proper use:

Quiero que él me compre una bicicleta.
I want him to buy me a bicycle.
I want him to buy a bicycle for me.

Ojalá que Pablo te compre una bicicleta.
I hope Paul buys you a bicycle.
I hope Paul buys a bicycle for you.

Espero que Manuel le compre una bicicleta.
I hope Manuel buys him (her, you) a bicycle.
I hope Manuel buys a bicycle for him (her, you).

Deseamos que papá nos compre una bicicleta.
We wish dad buys us a bicycle.
We wish dad buys a bicycle for us.

Prefiero que Luis os compre una bicicleta.
I prefer that Luis buys you guys a bicycle.
I prefer that Luis buys a bicycle for you guys.

Que Pablo les compre una bicicleta.
Que Paul buys them (you all) a bicycle.
Que Paul is buying a bicycle for them (you all).

Gramática
The indirect object pronouns le and les are ambiguous.
They can have several meanings. The proper meaning must
be taken from the context of the sentence, and to minimize the ambiguity,
"a + person receiving the action" should be added. The example below shows how the meaning of le and les
changes with each sentence.

Que ella le llame a Juan.
le = him (Juan)

Que ella le llame a su hermana.
le = her (hermana)

Que ella le llame a usted.
le = you (usted)

Que ella les llame a sus padres.
les = them (padres)

Que ella les llame a ustedes.
les = you all (ustedes)

Sentences
Que Victoria le compre un regalo a su madre. - That Victoria buys a gift for her mother.
Que Juan me de una pelota. - That Juan gives me a ball.
Que Elena y Pedro nos regalen una bicicleta. - That Elena y Pedro give us a bicycle.
Que Juan les de dulces a los chicos. - That Juan gives candy to the boys.
Que Roberto les traiga libros a los niños. - That Robert brings books to the children.
Que la señora le haga una cena al maestro. - That the lady makes a dinner for the teacher.
Ojalá que la estrella famosa le firme autógrafos al público. - I hope that the famous star signs autographs for the public.
Que Pedro les pida explicaciones a los niños. - That Pedro asks the children for explanations.
Deseo que María nos escriba una carta. - I wish Maria writes us a letter.
Que el niño me traiga una manzana. - That the child brings me an apple.

Sentences
Que la niña me corte flores. - That the girl cuts flowers for me.
Que el deportista le gane una medalla a su equipo. - That the athlete wins a medal for his team.
Que el millonario le done una ambulancia a los bomberos. - That the millionaire donates an ambulance to the firefighters.
Que Juan le de mucho amor a su hijo. - That Juan was gives a lot of love to his son.
Que ellos nos reciban amablemente. - That they were receiving us kindly.
Espero que le compres un carro a Rosa. - I hope that you buy a car for Rosa.
Ojalá que Ana le teja una bufanda a su padre. - Hope that Ana weaves a scarf for her father.
Que Pedro y Juan le lleven cervezas a los invitados. - Pedro y Juan take beers to the guests.
Que el cartero te entregue la carta pronto. - That the mailman delivers you the letter soon.
Espero que el jefe les haga una reunión a los empleados.- I hope that the boss has a gathering for the employees.
